North Korea shuts down it’s nuclear program??

Today North Korea agreed to shut down and dismantle it’s nuclear weapons program in exchange for economic aide.

I’m not holding my breath.

North Korea has been a hostile rogue state for a long time now and it seems that every year they agree to shut down and dismantle their nuclear weapons program.

North Korea’s possession of nuclear capabilities is their only bargaining chip on the international stage. If they didn’t have the threat of these weapons South Korea (aided by the US) would have invaded long ago.

From the reports I have read the people of North Korea are starving to death. Although no official numbers have been released (shocker) it has been rumored that 3 million North Koreans have died as a result of famine in the past 10 years.

I find it hard to believe that a country that loses 10% of its population to famine can split the atom.

Kim Jong Il has been trying to position himself for years to receive the maximum possible tradeoff for his dud nukes. His nuclear “test” last year was supposed to be his great moment where he could show the world what he had accomplished.

The ‘nuclear’ tests that North Korea bragged didn’t even register as nuclear explosions. The CIA director labeled the tests as a failure, and many officials suggested that it misfired.

The explosions were most likely plutonium bombs that North Korea hoped would register a large enough blast to make it seem that they had tested a nuclear weapon.

I wonder if Kim Jong Il and Ahmadinejad have weekly tea together to discuss how to look like idiots. At least Il doesn’t covertly send in his troops to kill American soldiers in Iraq…well he probably would if he could feed them.

this shows how the US politics have failed. Shortsighted diplomats like Hill, whom are already dancing under the music of 2009 (DEMS) are giving a pass to a bloody regime who is undertaking a major genocide against their own people.

after billions of USD in aid from south (as well as US) what we learned so far is how a Dictator, who is left un-monitored (or monitored from the UN) can prepare bombs and kill his own people for that matters.

how can the US think that a dictator like Kim Jong Il would “lower” his arms, and tell his people to trust the US, after 45 years of teaching them how to hate the US?

  2. Todd Says:

Kim Jong Il is like a bully kid in elementary school and we keep giving him our lunch money. This guy can’t be taken for his word or reasoned with. I feel for the people there but I’m not sure that sending tons of money over there is a good idea. You have to wonder how much of it actually gets to the people anyway…

Ryan have you abandoned your so called daily blog? Maybe you should rename it “Political Tranquility”. I think I can hear the crickets up in here, reminds me of camping.

What did you think of Hillarys plan to give every child including those born to illegals $5,000 in US funds? How about Arnolds plan to give financial aid to illegals for college? What did you think of the Republican Debate last night?

    Take care dude…
