John Doolittle: The Poster Boy for Term Limits

by Ryan Miller

California Assembly member Ted Gaines has expressed that he is thinking about running for Congressman Doolittle seat in the 2008 election. Doolittle has been rightfully under fire for the stupid things that he has done, and continues to do.

Gaines said about Doolittle, “I think voters have lost faith in his leadership ability,” no…really? Doolittle barely squeaked out a re-election last November in arguably the most conservative district in America.

There is no doubt that Doolittle shouldn’t be in office, he is an example of what a Congressman should not be (and a great example of how most people view Congress members). The FBI has raided his home, he paid his wife out of campaign money, and lobbyists such as Jack Abramoff have paid him off.

I love Doolittle’s response to Gaines, “Ted Gaines is sadly mistaken,”… Ted Gaines has let political ambition and bad judgment convince him that he will rescue the Republican Party.”… “I will gladly place before the voters my record of over 30 years of service to the Republican Party to Ted Gaines’ less than one year.”

“Record of 30 years” aside, does anyone else find it odd that a man who was just re-elected is talking about being re-elected? Didn’t he get elected to do something? He should be spending his time doing what the people who re-elected him want him to do, not focus on how he might be able to win again in 2008!! This just shows that if he is re-elected (God forbid) in 2008, all he will get done is get re-elected 2 years later.

It takes millions of dollars to get elected to Congress. For some reason Doolittle is awesome at raising those funds. But isn’t there a better cause this money could be going to? All that comes from donating to Doolittle is the chance to do it again. It doesn’t make any sense.

What legislation has he wrote since last November? He is great at getting re-elected and talking about getting re-elected. Being in Congress must be great, cause they don’t seem to do much other than do everything they can to stay longer.

If he were a true public servant he would recognize that he isn’t doing anything productive for his constituents and donate the money he raises to charitable causes.

TERM LIMITS PLEASE

Doolittle won’t be able to raise enough to even get through the primary!

  2. Todd Says:

Never heard of the fool but he’s sounds like the typical political crook. However, I doubt that the most conservative district in America is located in California. You’ve obviously never been to the Mid-West. You don’t see no damn hippy freaks driving Prius out there it’s all F150’s with gun racks. Maybe the most conservative district in California would be more like it…
